150 years of Spin was a group exhibition loosely based around the the 150 year history of the yarn and stocking Schüller factory in Unterradlberg which was later home in the 1980's to a very popular disco. St Pölten had at least 3 firms producing fine lace, yarn, and later viscose. From 2011 to 2016 I had a large studio at the dilapidated site. So the first work in this exhibiton, Phoenix of Care 2016, is a homage to my time there where i was unofficial 'hausmeister'/ caretaker, clearing away industrial waste hidden amongst the overgrowth observing natures force in reclaiming the site, repairing parts of the decayed building, and trying to bring some semblance of order to the chaos.
The second work, Davit Spin-machine 2014-2018 was conceptualized as a ship's davit. I had used a type of davit for an earlier work, Denkpolster/ Thought pillows 2010 ( see 'Works'), but here there is something much more active in this spinning of a human cocoon. I made my first human cocoons from this structure in 2014.
